Our Ministry
Vision Statement
To make disciples of all men by: Studying God’s Word, walking in the Light, serving as a lamp to others; and becoming change agents through the examples of our Savior Jesus Christ (2nd Timothy 2:15; John 1:1-16; Romans 12:2; 1st John 2:6).
Mission Statement
Russell Street Missionary Baptist Church lives to: Save, Equip and Send The loss to be saved (John 3:16), the saved to be equipped (2nd Timothy 2:2) and the equipped to be sent (Romans 10:9-15).
Our Beliefs
God
We believe in one God — the Creator of the universe, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 13:14). (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 102:25)
Jesus Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem humanity (John 1:1-2; 14; Luke 1:35). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through. His death on the cross. We believe in the physical resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 3:24; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ gave the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 1st Corinthians 15:3-4).
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal to God and the Son of God. The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in Christ from the moment of Salvation (2nd Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 1st Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 5:25).
The Church
We believe that the church, which is the body and bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age (Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-27; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 11:2). The church is not something we go nor is it something we do. Instead, the church is something we are. Jesus is the head of the church, and we are members of his body (Ephesians 1:22-23). We believe that the church is meant to bear witness to the good news of the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:14-20). This mission is not something that is just done overseas; instead the mission is something that is done every day of our life (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). As God is on a mission to redeem humanity, to bring hope out of desperation, to bring freedom out of bondage, to bring life out of death, so the church is on mission to be a light to all people (Matthew 5:14) of every race and every nation (Psalm 46:10).
Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never repay the debt owed by the Love of God. Eternal life begins the moment one received Jesus Christ into his/her life by faith (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6 & 1:12; Romans 5:1).
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God to all of humanity. The Bible was written by inspired authors through the power and direction of God. The Bible is truth without error, (2nd Timothy 3:16-17; 11 Peter 1:20-21; 2nd Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105-106; Proverbs 30:5).
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbal inspired word of God, His truth (John 17:17), His heart (John 3:16), and his purpose for the world (Psalm 46:10). It is the final authority for faith and practice. The Bible is infallible, and God-breathed (2nd Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12-13).
